Thompson Italian Is a New Dining Destination Near Falls Green


Co-owners of Thompson Italian Gabe and Katherine began their journey to opening their own restaurant more than a decade ago when they met at a swanky NYC restaurant. They were both working there after already cutting their teeth at other well-known eateries in the city, including Del Posto and Per Se. When the couple moved back to Northern Virginia in 2015, they started toying with the idea of opening a restaurant of the same caliber, but close to their new home. This past August, their dream was realized.

Thompson Italian brings the high-quality cuisine of a metropolitan restaurant right here to Falls Church, offering seasonal dishes, house-made pasta, and handcrafted gelato. If you want to savor some of the pasta, order the tagliatelle dressed simply with bolognese and aged parmesan or the Gemelli tossed with shrimp, tomatoes, Calabrian chilies, and breadcrumbs. For a larger entree, pick from a succinct list of specialties that includes roasted chicken, hanger steak, and sea trout. Then cap off your meal with a scoop of lemon-gingersnap or bourbon-pecan gelato.
